Little Matthew made his arrival right before Christmas, after a looong labor for his first-time mommy! He finally did arrive safely to the relief of Sarah and Chris. Sarah is my co-worker, whose style I would describe as classic and “put-together”…and it was no different when I arrived for Matthew’s session. “Hold up–you just had a baby a week and a half ago?”  You’ll notice Sarah’s style in the hand-painted artwork in Matthew’s bedroom, and the fact that we wrapped him up in one of Sarah’s many gorgeous scarves :)  Enjoy viewing this cutie pie and his family!

Jenna is the daughter of one of my bestest friends/roommates/bridesmaids, Jess! I miss Jess a ton, but luckily we stay in pretty constant contact through phone calls and emails and texts! I was able to take maternity pics for Jess, but scheduling just hasn’t worked out for me to get home to photograph any other milestones for Miss Jenna so far. Luckily it worked out that I could get home and do some pics near her first birthday. It was a totally overcast/misty day, but Jenna didn’t mind at all :)

If you are a fan on my Facebook page, you would have seen this super cute teaser last week!
An arm was all Jess would let me photograph that morning…hehe.

Outfit change and a snack break!

Thanks to grandma Cheryl for helping out with Jenna’s shoot :) Jess, she’s getting so big and getting such a cute personality! See you guys soon!

May 26th, 2011…
Last weekend I headed back to my hometown to visit family…and I thought while there I’d see if anyone was interested in a quick mini-session! It’s nice to get out of the StL area and discover some new locations. While I was researching a place for an urban shoot, I came across a Dayton photographer’s site…they were shooting in a really cool spot…I emailed a few pics to my dad, who’s familiar with the area, and crazy enough…the spot was his old work place! Super random coincidence, but so cool!
Mini-sessions are a great way to get some quick shots of your family as they grow, without laying down a large amount of money every time you want to capture a moment in time. They are also less work for me, so I consider it a win-win situation :)
First up that morning were Robyn and her baby girl Ellen (+2 new babies on the way!). Unfortunately her hubs had to work. We all attended the same high school…I love seeing how all these people I remember from a long time ago grew up and made beautiful little families :)

Ellen’s curls were just adorable.

Next up was the Alldred family! We went to high school together also, and Leanne and I also attended Miami U! I’ve kept up with Leanne mostly on facebook..she is quite the photographer (much to her little guys’ dismay) and I like to look at her family blog!

Three boys, all with very different personalities…

And last came the Sharp family! Kate and I have known each other since we were teenagers, and she were bridesmaids in each other’s weddings! I can’t believe she already has 2 little guys!

Ben has become quite the ham. He and my 2 year old niece are very fond of each other :)
This is my fave shot of the day…you can’t get better than these candid moments…
I want to thank all these families for coming out! I will definitely be doing something like this again in the fall!
Also a big thanks to my mom for being the best assistant/baby wrangler a photographer could have!
I have lots o’ stuff in the blog pipeline. My awesome friend Jess and her baby Jenna, Katie and Matt’s wedding, and several engagement sessions! I promise to blog a lot this summer :)

In the last year or so, I’ve started to get a bit of baby fever. And then when you photograph babies like Miss Sophia here, it’s only gonna get worse! I met Sophia and her mommy at Oak Knoll Park the other morning…and she was so cheerful and smiley!

Her mom had her laughing and smiling all morning :)

She did so well with her little headband…but here it’s almooossst coming off…

We got a little frilly in the tutu for a few…

And then went au-natural…
Her foot cracks me up here…she didn’t want it to touch the grass too much. My 1 year old niece Kaitlyn also really dislikes grass!
She was a little too small to enjoy the playground…so imagine our surprise when she decided to climb all the way up the slide (with a little support, of course)

The end! Hope you enjoyed this cute baby as much as me :)

When you’re watching a baby grow up, time can really fly…case in point…my niece Kaitlyn, is already turning one this month! She and I both have very big birthdays coming up, just a week apart from one another…I won’t say what mine is, although most of you know :) Griff and I headed to Ohio for the 4th and of course I squeezed in a shoot of Kaitlyn. She is seriously the most well-behaved, sweet natured, happy baby I’ve ever met.

She has a range of expressions…

I know Danny and Sarah’s lives have changed this year having Kaitlyn around…they are so lucky to have her!
We started off with a cute pink hair accessory, but it didn’t last long!
Lots of cuddles!

Here she is thinking about standing up…she can do it for a sec but is a little unsure!
She also really likes waving, and clapping to this spanish song my mom sings to her :)
Aww…cute family!
Love you guys!
